Sự hợp tác giữa hai quốc gia nhằm xây dựng trường đại học công lập có chất lượng nghiên cứu và đào tạo theo chuẩn quốc tế, giúp các sinh viên có thể “du học Đức” ngay tại Việt Nam.
Ngày 11-11, Trường đại học Việt Đức (trường công lập thuộc Bộ Giáo dục và Đào tạo) chính thức khánh thành. Trường có khuôn viên rộng 50,5ha nằm trên đường Vành đai 4, tại thị xã Bến Cát, Bình Dương.
Các lãnh đạo Việt Nam, Đức và lãnh đạo Bộ Giáo dục và Đào tạo, Ngân hàng Thế giới tham dự buổi khánh thành.
Giáo sư Tomas Benz – hiệu trưởng Trường đại học Việt Đức – cho biết ông tự hào đây là trường đại học công lập đầu tiên tại Việt Nam có sự tham gia của các đối tác quốc tế, hướng tới các tiêu chuẩn học thuật, đào tạo của thế giới.
Được thành lập từ năm 2008, Trường đại học Việt Đức là dự án hợp tác giữa Chính phủ Việt Nam và Cộng hòa Liên bang Đức.
Năm 2020, hiệp định ba bên được ký kết giữa Chính phủ Việt Nam (Bộ Giáo dục và Đào tạo), Chính phủ Cộng hòa Liên bang Đức (Bộ Giáo dục và Nghiên cứu liên bang) và chính quyền bang Hessen (Bộ Nghiên cứu và Nghệ thuật), tạo nền tảng cho giai đoạn phát triển tiếp theo của nhà trường. Chi phí cho các giáo sư Đức giảng dạy tại trường có sự tham gia hỗ trợ của Chính phủ Đức.
Dự án xây dựng khuôn viên Trường đại học Việt Đức được Chính phủ Việt Nam và Ngân hàng Thế giới (WB) ký hợp đồng tín dụng từ năm 2010, khởi công từ năm 2016 với tổng mức đầu tư 200 triệu USD. Trong đó vốn vay ưu đãi của WB là 180 triệu USD, còn lại là vốn đối ứng của ngân sách Việt Nam.
Khuôn viên của trường chính thức được đưa vào sử dụng từ năm 2022-2023, dự kiến sẽ đáp ứng quy mô 6.000 sinh viên vào năm 2030 (hiện trường đang đào tạo khoảng 2.400 sinh viên Việt Nam và 70 sinh viên các nước).
Với tổng diện tích xây dựng lên tới 154.000m2, khuôn viên Trường đại học Việt Đức được xây dựng theo mô hình hệ sinh thái đô thị đại học, bao gồm đầy đủ các hạng mục: khu giảng đường, các tòa nhà học thuật của các khoa, ngành; 21 phòng thí nghiệm theo tiêu chuẩn quốc tế và các công trình như: thư viện, hội trường, nhà điều hành, trung tâm thể thao, ký túc xá…
Khuôn viên trụ sở chính của Trường đại học Việt Đức chính thức khánh thành sau nhiều năm nhà trường phải “ở nhờ”, đánh dấu bước phát triển “an cư lạc nghiệp” của trường.
Trường đại học Việt Đức mở ra cơ hội “du học tại chỗ” cho sinh viên khi chương trình đào tạo theo tiêu chuẩn của Đức với các giảng viên của hai nước cùng tham gia giảng dạy.
Theo thống kê, có tới 4,6% trong tổng số sinh viên là sinh viên quốc tế đến từ 20 quốc gia. Với các sinh viên theo học tại trường, có tới 40% người được học kỳ cuối cùng tại các trường đại học Đức thông qua các học bổng, chương trình hợp tác.
Trường đại học Việt Đức có thế mạnh trong các ngành kỹ thuật, kinh tế. Hiện có 7 ngành đào tạo cử nhân, 9 ngành thạc sĩ, 3 lĩnh vực nghiên cứu bậc tiến sĩ và dự kiến sẽ mở thêm một số ngành mới trong thời gian tới.
