Ông Nguyễn Lộc Hà, Phó Chủ tịch UBND tỉnh Bình Dương cho biết, địa phương đang triển khai nhiều dự án nâng cấp, mở rộng các tuyến đường bộ và lên kế hoạch xây dựng 2 tuyến đường sắt kết nối các cảng biển nhằm tránh ùn tắc giao thông đường bộ.
Hai tuyến đường sắt mà Bình Dương sẽ đầu tư xây dựng, là: tuyến đường sắt đô thị số 1 nối Bình Dương với TP. HCM. Tuyến đường sắt này sẽ từ ga cuối Suối Tiên ở TP.HCM đến thành phố mới Bình Dương. Còn tuyến đường sắt kết nối các khu công nghiệp Bàu Bàng, khu công nghiệp Cái Mép và cảng Thị Vải có chiều dài 127,45km. Việc Bình Dương xây dựng các tuyến đường sắt nhằm đa dạng hóa giao thông, giảm áp lực hệ thống giao thông đường bộ đang ngày một quá tải.
Đường sắt được thực hiện với vốn ODA
Để có nguồn vốn thực hiện 2 tuyến đường sắt, lãnh đạo tỉnh Bình Dương đã có buổi gặp gỡ với đại diện Cơ quan Hợp tác quốc tế Nhật Bản (JICA). Tại đây, Bình Dương đề xuất Chính phủ Nhật Bản và JICA quan tâm, hỗ trợ thu xếp nguồn vốn ODA và đẩy nhanh công tác triển khai các dự án với tổng vốn vay 543 tỷ Yên Nhật, tương đương 3,97 tỷ USD.
Thời gian qua, được sự hỗ trợ vốn ODA của JICA, tỉnh Bình Dương đã đầu tư hoàn thành dự án cải thiện môi trường nước Nam Bình Dương giai đoạn 1 và giai đoạn 2 với tổng vốn đầu tư 5.753 tỷ đồng, giải quyết vấn đề thoát nước và xử lý nước sinh hoạt tại đô thị thành phố Thủ Dầu Một và thành phố Thuận An
