Trong giai đoạn 2021-2025, thị xã Bến Cát sẽ lên thành phố trực thuộc tỉnh Bình Dương. Với định hướng Bến Cát trở thành đô thị công nghiệp – dịch vụ – đầu mối giao thông, tỉnh Bình Dương đã lập 6 phân khu chi tiết ở thị xã này.
Bến Cát được phân chia làm 6 khu đô thị
UBND tỉnh Bình Dương vừa thông tin về Đồ án điều chỉnh tổng thể Quy hoạch chung thị xã Bến Cát đến năm 2040; diện tích lập quy hoạch là 23.435,4 ha (tổng diện tích đất tự nhiên toàn TX. Bến Cát).
Theo đó, ranh giới hành chính đô thị Bến Cát gồm 7 phường (Mỹ Phước, Thới Hòa, Tân Định, Hòa Lợi, Chánh Phú Hòa, An Tây, An Điền) và 1 xã (Phú An). Khu vực nội thành gồm toàn bộ ranh giới hành chính của 7 phường và 1 xã, được phân chia thành 6 phân khu đô thị.
Khu đô thị 1
Cụ thể, Khu đô thị 1 với chức năng là khu trung tâm hành chính – dịch vụ – công nghiệp; vị trí thuộc phía Đông sông Thị Tính và được giới hạn trên cơ sở tuyến đường Vành đai 4 ở phía Nam; đường Mỹ Phước – Tân Vạn – Bàu Bàng ở phía Đông.
Khu đô thị 2
Khu đô thị 2 có chức năng là khu đô thị dịch vụ – giáo dục – công nghiệp; vị trí thuộc phía Đông sông Thị Tính và được giới hạn trên cơ sở tuyến đường Vành đai 4 ở phía Bắc, đường Mỹ Phước – Tân Vạn – Bàu Bàng ở phía Đông.
Khu đô thị 3
Khu đô thị 3 chức năng là khu đô thị công nghiệp – dịch vụ; vị trí được giới hạn trên cơ sở tuyến đường Mỹ Phước – Tân Vạn – Bàu Bàng ở phía Tây, đường Vành đai 4 ở phía Nam.
Khu đô thị 4
Khu đô thị 4 chức năng là khu đô thị công nghiệp – dịch vụ; đầu mối hạ tầng kỹ thuật; vị trí được giới hạn trên cơ sở tuyến đường Mỹ Phước – Tân Vạn – Bàu Bàng ở phía Tây, đường Vành đai 4 ở phía Nam.
Khu đô thị 5
Khu đô thị 5 chức năng là khu đô thị công nghiệp – dịch vụ; vị trí thuộc phía Tây sông Thị Tính đến giáp sông Sài Gòn và được giới hạn bởi tuyến đường Vành đai 4 ở phía Nam.
Khu đô thị 6
Khu đô thị 6 chức năng là khu đô thị cảng – dịch vụ; vị trí thuộc phía Tây sông Thị Tính đến giáp sông Sài Gòn và được giới hạn bởi tuyến đường Vành đai 4 ở phía Bắc.

Đô thị Bến Cát có vị trí trung tâm nối liền TP. Thủ Dầu Một, TX. Tân Uyên và các huyện Bắc Tân Uyên, Bàu Bàng, Dầu Tiếng. Định hướng đô thị Bến Cát đến năm 2030 là đô thị công nghiệp – dịch vụ, đến năm 2040 là trung tâm đô thị có chức năng đô thị công nghiệp – dịch vụ – đầu mối giao thông; trong đó công nghiệp theo hướng phát triển công nghiệp sạch, có công nghệ cao.
Giai đoạn 2021-2025, thực hiện nâng cấp 2 xã An Điền, An Tây thành phường làm cơ sở xây dựng thành phố Bến Cát; hoàn thành công tác nâng cấp đô thị Bến Cát đạt tiêu chí đô thị loại II vào năm 2025. Giai đoạn 2026-2030, tiếp tục hoàn thiện các tiêu chí đô thị loại II, xây dựng xã Phú An đạt tiêu chí xã nông thôn mới kiểu mẫu.
Để thị xã Bến Cát lên thành phố, đáp ứng đủ các tiêu chí, địa phương đặc biệt quan tâm sớm hoàn thiện quy hoạch hệ thống giao thông, giáo dục, văn hóa, thể dục thể thao, nghĩa trang…
Theo định hướng của tỉnh Bình Dương, thị xã Bến Cát sẽ quy hoạch hệ thống giao thông liền mạch từ TP. Hồ Chí Minh, kết nối với đô thị Thủ Dầu Một, phát triển đô thị ven sông; quy hoạch quỹ đất dọc sông Thị Tính thành khu đô thị làng đại học.
